Test your curling skills

Etiquette:

("This is a gentleman's game which he plays in his curling home")

Some points of etiquette are:

1. Be ready to deliver your rock immediately after your opponent has played his stone - speed up play whatever possible.

2. Keep the ice clean - footwear should be thoroughly cleaned - all litter should be placed in receptacles.

3. If through mischance you commit an infraction of the rules (burning of stones, sliding past the hog line with the stones, etc.) and / or interfere with your opponent's play, then immediately take action to correct the error to the satisfaction of your opponent.

4. It is not permissible to sweep in such a manner as might indicate that you could control the natural movement of the moving stone by contacting it with the feet or brush.

5. Be on time - do not delay the game unnecessarily.

6. Missed shots should NOT be APPLAUDED.

7. Participate in the fellowship of curling.

8. The 2 teams who play against each other should sit at the same table after the game. This will help teams to get to know each other better, and show more friendship after game.

9. Commend all good shots of team-mates and opponents alike.

10. Be a gracious winner as a gracious loser.

11. Remember, friendly sporting acts toward team-mates and opponents will be appreciated and reciprocated.

12. VOLUNTEERS run most clubs. Cooperate with your club executives and do your part to assist as your talents allow.

Code of Ethics:

1. I will play the game with a spirit of good sportsmanship.

2. I will conduct myself in a honourable manner both on and off the ice.

3. I will never knowingly break a rule but if I do, I will divulge the breach.

4. I will take no action, which could be interpreted as an attempt to intimidate or demean my opponents, team-mates or officials.

5. I will interpret the rules in an impartial manner always keeping in mind that the purpose of the rules is to ensure that the games is played in an orderly and fair manner.

6. I will humbly accept any penalty, which the governing body, at all levels of curling, deems appropriate, if I am found in violation of the Code of Ethics or Rules of the Game.

General Responsibilities:

Skips are responsible for their teams and should:

1. Notify members of games.

2. Arrange for substitutes, from the O.D.C.C. League Committee's spare list if possible.

3. Make sure that games are scored properly.

4. Advise all members of change on scheduled time.

5. Thirds should record results of games.
