I would like to thank you all very much for the Get Well Card and a gift card from Home Depot. I bought something at Home Depot for my new shed.
I am doing very well as it has been past 5 weeks since I had the surgery to remove my left kidney with a mass in it on August 9. I learned that the mass was cancerous but it was very small at early stage. After 2 chest X-rays in May and July, there was no cancer spreading from the kidney at all, No need for me to have radiation or chemo treatments as the surgery by laparoscopy was successful.
It is okay with me for Darryl to add my thanks to all ODSC members on the ODSC Webpage.

If you are interested in playing in the ODSA Mixed Darts Tournament which will take place on September 29th, 2007, please contact Betty Ann Whiting or Robert Bhola. Hello ODSC Members,
The ODSC would like to share news about the changes at ODSA with you and the changes are:
1) The NEW ODSA full-time membership due starts on September 1st, 2007 ON TRIAL BASIS for one year, and the cost of membership due is $30 including insurance coverage fee.
2) The one event or weekend participation fee ($10 plus $5 for insurance coverage) for any ODSA tournament is removed and no longer in use starting September 1st, 2007 and it is replaced with the full-time ODSA membership due.
3) The cash prizes in all the ODSA tournaments (slo-pitch, darts, curling, volleyball, beach volleyball, and ball hockey) will be taxed. The T-4 income tax slips will be given to players on teams that receive cash prizes. The issue of T-4 income tax slip has taken place since last June.
Please feel free to contact the ODSC Board first if you have any questions or concerns about these changes.

See you there! :) Picture Gallery The pictures from the 1st Annual ODC/ODSC Camping Weekend and the ODSA Beach Volleyball tournament will be coming this weekend. Results from the ODSA Beach Volleyball Tournanment There were 2 teams that participated in the ODSA Beach Volleyball Tournament Saturday July 21st. It was a great experience playing 4 on 4.. The sand was soft and weather was great. Each match best of 3 and up to 15 points. There were 6 teams all together in the tournament. Ottawa placed 3rd and 4th. Third place goes to " Deaminator" (Captain) David Morton, David Bergeron, Bharat Madaparthi, Jeremy Wells. Forth place goes to "The Fighting Irish" (Captain) David Joseph, Robert Bhola, Krishna Madaparthi, Luke Young Boyle.
Congratulations to both teams. Pictures will be posted on ODSC in the near future for your viewing.
I do recommend this beach volleyball tournament for anyone next year. Hopefully we will see more teams participating in the event..

Saturday July14th - DAY - Volleyball
There will be a Deaf Team called the "Deaf Devils" playing in the 25th Alcatel-Lucent H.O.P.E Volleyball Tournament on Mooney's Bay Beach. Closest intersection is Riverside Drive and Heron Road. Every year there are 25,000 people and 200 teams.. The Deaf Devils will be playing on Court #29 Competitive division.
Here are the game times : 8:15AM 10:15AM 12:15PM 1:45PM 2:45PM
Everyone is more than welcome to come out and support the team.
Saturday July14th - NIGHT - Basketball Game
There will be an exhibition Basketball Game Saturday night at the Canterbury Recreation Complex ( 2185 Arch Street ) at 6PM to 9PM.. Closest intersection is Walkley Road and St. Laurent. Game will start at 7PM. Come out watch and support the team. Social Night at Honest Lawyer on 141 George Street After the Game ODSC/ ODSA invites you to come down to the Honest Lawyer ( 141 George Street ) in the Market for a Good Luck Party for both the Soccer and Basketball team. Come out and Meet the players. FREE ADMISSION!!! Come out and Support the CDSA TEAM!!!

21st Annual Wheel-A-Thon. At the Terry Fox Athletic Facility ( 2960 Riverside drive) at Mooney's Bay. The National Capital Sports Council of the Disabled is hosting their annual fundraiser. Registration is at 9AM and will continue till 2Pm. BBQ will be provided for the pledgers.

ODSA is hosting a Beach Volleyball Tournament in Toronto July 22nd. It would be really nice to see a team(s) from Ottawa participating in the tournament. If anyone is interested organize a men's or woman's team of 4 players. Please reply back to odscsports@yahoo.ca or they may fill out the registration form attached to this email. To participate in any ODSA tournament they must be a member of ODSA.
The ODSA fees have now changed and there is a fee of $30.00 per person to become a member for the year. There is no more "One time participation fee" for a single event.
If you cannot organize a team on your own please email me that you are interested and I will try to help you create a team for either men's or woman's.

L"ASSO sera l'hôte d'un tournoi de volleyball sur plage à Toronto le 22 juillet prochain. Ce serait vraiment bien de voir une équipe d'Ottawa participer à ce tournoi. Si quelqu'un est intéressé à organiser une équipe d'hommes ou de femmes de quatre joueurs. SVP répondre à odscsports@yahoo.ca ou remplir le formulaire d'inscription joint à ce courriel. Pour participer à tout tournoi de l'ASSO, il faut etre membre de l"ASSO. La grille tarifaire de l"ASSO a changé, et il y a des frais de $30.00 par personne pour devenir membre pour l'année. Il n'est plus possible de payer à la pièce pour participer à un seul événement.
S'il vous est impossible d'organiser votre propre équipe, avisez moi par courriel de votre intérêt et je tenterai de vous aider à créer une équipe pour hommes ou pour femmes.

Summer is Quickly approaching and ODC ( Ottawa Deaf Centre) and ODSC (Ottawa Deaf Sports Club) would like to welcome you all to a wonderful weekend camping and outdoor activities hosted by ODC/ ODSC.
We will be camping at Fitzroy Harbour July 26th to 29th.. Everyone is welcome.. Please fill in the registration forms and send to ODC ( address provided on the registration form). Dead line is July 20th for your registration..
We will have canoeing, hiking/walking and a kickball (Soccer baseball) tournament for everyone..
We look forward to seeing you all there..

L'été approche à grands pas, et le CSO (Centre des Sourds d'Ottawa) et le CSSO (Club sportif des Sourds d'Ottawa) vous invite à une fin de semaine de camping et d'activités extérieures organisées par le CSO/CSSO.
Nous camperons à Fitzroy Harbour du 26 au 29 juillet. Tous sont bienvenus. SVP compléter les formulaires d'inscription et les faire parvenir au CSO (adresse fournie sur le formulaire d'inscription). La date limite pour l'inscription est le 20 juillet.
Il y aura du canotage, randonnée pedestre/marche et un tournoi de "Kickball" (Soccer baseball) pour tous.
